At TICRail we are committed to making vocational education accessible and affordable. We offer a range of government-subsidised training options in New South Wales (NSW) and Western Australia (WA), tailored to meet the needs of students and employers.

NSW Smart and Skilled

Smart and Skilled is a NSW Government program that provides eligible students with access to government-subsidised training. This initiative aims to help individuals gain the skills needed for employment and career advancement.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Smart and Skilled funding, you must
  • Be at least 15 years old
  • No longer be in secondary school
  • Live or work in NSW
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
  • have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Funding and Fee Details
  • Concession Fees: Reduced fees apply for students receiving Centrelink benefits
  • Standard Fees: Apply to students who do not qualify for fee-free training or concessions.

Traineeships under the NSW Smart and Skilled

A traineeship is one of the best ways to get hands-on training and a nationally recognised qualification while being paid. They’re more than a foot in the door to gain experience – they’re a great way to start your career as they give you the skills employers need. You can even begin your apprenticeship or traineeship while you’re at school. And many of them are fee-free!
As a trainee, you’ll spend one to three years, depending on your industry and qualification, learning a vocation in the rail industry.

WA Priority Industry Training (PIT)

The Priority Industry Training (PIT) program focuses on making available a range of qualifications that address priority industry needs of the State through an employment-based training pathway.

This program is available to existing workers. The qualifications offered may be delivered in the Pilbara to Western Australia residents.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be an Australian citizen, or

  • Hold one of the approved visa subclasses:

      •  holders of a sub-class 300, 309, 444, 445, 449, 461, 785, 786, 790, or 820 visa;

      • secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 188, 457, 482, 489, 491 or 494 visa;

      • holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790;

      • holders of a bridging visa who are eligible to work, and who have made a valid application for a subclass 866.

Must be a resident of Western Australia

Must not have an active apprenticeship or traineeship training contract registered on WAAMS

Fee Details

The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.
 

Fees: Eligible students may pay up to a maximum fee of $1,500.00.
